Crayola Intense Chisel tip markers was used on this card.

Prepare card by folding 8.5” x 5.5” glossy white cardstock in half – a bone folder helps to make a nice flat fold.
Using the Magenta rose #09.145.K page 144, color the rose with the pink marker and the leaves with the green marker. Huff on the stamp to create moisture and stamp in the center of the card. Set aside.

Cut a Post-It note in an oval using decorative scissors. Cover the rose with the Post-It note. Ink up a makeup sponge with the tip of the yellow marker by pinching the marker a couple of times, getting the sponge fairly wet. Set the sponge on the Post-It note and pull it towards yourself – only swipe one time. DO NOT go back and forth. Do this in four to six areas on the cardstock. Ink up another sponge with a pink marker. Use the same motion as above, overlapping the color in some areas. Finish by inking another makeup sponge with the teal marker, streaking until the cardstock is covered. Remove the Post-It note.

Seal with cheap hairspray or Sealant to preserve the color.

C001 Stippled Heart

Prepare card by folding 8.5” x 5.5” white cardstock in half – use a bone folder to make a nice flat crease.  Using a shaving brush, lightly stipple the card front with Vivid Garnet ink.  Over stamp with Magenta leaf #09.109.F page 35.  Make sure to stamp off the edges of the card.  Set aside.

Cut burgundy cardstock 3” x 23/4”. Glue to center of card front. Cut gold cardstock 23/4” x 21/2” and glue to the center of the burgundy piece. Cut white cardstock 21/2” x 21/4”. Stipple with Garnet ink and glue on top of the gold piece. Set aside.

Stamp Magenta heart #08.026.1 page 23 on a scrap of white cardstock using Garnet ink. Cut out and mount to center of card. Glue a purchased bow to the top of the heart.

Simple Tea Towel Sewn Apron

I'm a little off my beaten track but I want to share a tea towel apron that I sewed.  Yes, I said SEWED, not paper crafted!  I am posting this on both my SU! and Magenta Blogs so if you are a Follower of both my Blogs, you will have already seen this post on my SU! blog.  It is just too neat not to share.

Anyways, if you have 20 minutes to spare, you must try this apron.  I am not the originator of this idea – it has been around for some time.

Supplies
1 tea towel 19”x 28“ or so.
3 m of 1” wide ribbon or you sure could sew a tube by joining lightweight fabric together.

You need to wash and dry the tea towel to shrink it before beginning.  Now press it.  Check the seams and re-sew if needed.

I found two spots that needed re-sewing.

I sewed the whole length of the tea towel to be sure.

Press the tea towel in half lengthwise with right sides together. Find the center of your ribbon and align it with the center of the towel's folded edge. I know, I know – this doesn’t seem right that you are pinning the ribbon on the wrong side of the tea towel but trust me, that is what you have to do.  Pin ribbon along folded edge, through both layers of the towel.  Sew along the top and bottom of the ribbon, through  all layers.

Press the tea towel in half lengthwise with right sides together. 

Mark the center of your ribbon and the center of the towel's folded edge with pins.

Pin through all thicknesses.

Sew through all thicknesses.

Fold the top layer of the tea towel up to meet the ribbon. Pin just the folded top layer, along the edges.  Now sew through the edges only.  Bar tack at the top if possible.  There is quite a thickness there so be careful – don’t break a needle as I did.

Find the center of this flap and mark.  My apron had a line that I followed while sewing so it was pretty simple.  Now you have two healthy size pockets on your apron.  Again, bar tack at the top for security.  Finish the ends of your ribbon.  Since I am giving this as a gift, I added a label to the inside, bottom edge.  I’ve had these labels forever, I don’t even know where they came from.

Find the center of this flap and mark.

Sew on this marking.

Finish the ends of your ribbon.

I added a label to the inside, bottom edge.

Wrap the ties back around to the front and tie them under the pocket.  That way, the apron will not move around while you are wearing it.  If I sew another apron, I might just use enough ribbon so that it ties at the back only – about 2 meters.  It takes a lot of ribbon to go around a guy twice!

M193 Candy Cane Christmas

Been neglecting my Magenta Blog so thought I would add my ‘Metallic Theme’ Christmas Card that I did for Sylvia’s 2011 Christmas Card Challenge for December to it.  After I had scanned these, I realized I had forgot to add my phrase to the front.  I re-scanned the original card but I didn’t bother doing the group ones.

Magenta stamps: Phrase 07011D page 13 and Candy cane 23148D page 122 for those of you that have the original catalogue.

Ink: Red, Versamark.

Cardstock: Red card and 2.75x3.75”, White (3.5x2.5”), Silver metallic (3.5x5.5) then rip top & bottom.

Accessories: bugle beads, 6” wire, 10” silver cord, needle, black zig marker.

I sponged the edges of the white cardstock with red ink then free handed the edges with a black marker.  With a pencil, lightly mark a hole placement .75” from the left side and 1.25” from the top.  Mark a second placement .75” from the bottom and 1.25” from the left side.  Distress with scissors then tear it here and there.  Adhere to the red piece then the silver piece.  Poke a hole at each pencil mark through all layers.  String the beads onto wire.  Thread the wire through each hole and tape to the back.  Poke another couple of holes and add cord to help hold the candy cane in shape.

Once I stamped my images on white cardstock, I patted them with Versamark then embossed with Crystal.

M190 Delightful Snow

Here is another version of Faux Polished Stone.

Stamp: 09100.Q page 34.

Cardstock: lilac, navy, white glossy.
Ink: Vivid Inky Blue re-inker, Vivid Aqua re-inker, Silver Colorbox, Black Memories.
Accessories: metallic ribbon, snowflake punch by EK Success.
Cut glossy cardstock 5" x 6".
Dampen your cotton ball with rubbing alcohol.  I purchased this at our local Drug Store.
Add a drop of Vivid Inky Blue, three drops of Vivid Aqua and a couple small dabs of Silver Colorbox re-inkers to your dampened cotton ball. 

It works best if you lightly dab all over your panel rather than consentrating on one area for now.  This helps spread the silver more randomly.

Now continue dabbing and blending until you achieve the look you want.

Set aside.
Once dry, stamp image.
Finish card.

I wanted to emboss my main image so I could color it with markers.  I did not have a pigment ink in razzleberry so I first inked my stamp in Versamark then touched it into the razzleberry dye ink.  The clear EP stuck to my image so I was able to emboss.

Cardstock - green, white, brown


Inks by Vivid - Spring Green, Brick, Plum and Memories Soft Wheat.

Place the smallest template in the center of the white panel.  Stipple Spring Green ink all around the template.  Hold the stipple brush on an angle and stipple into the beveled edge of the template.

Place second smallest template on an angle over the stippled cardstock.  Use Brick on thistemplate using the same stippling technique.

Place third smallest template at a different angle over the two stippled colors.  Repeat stippling technique with Plum ink.

Stamp the pear in the middle with brown ink.  Stamp top left corner with leaves.  I inked the leaves in green then stamped on a scrap paper before stamping on the white panel.  I wanted a bit softer look.  The same leaves hardly show up on this scan.

Brayer, Mounts, Post It Notes.

Mask top part of card off with post-it notes as shown.  Ink the background flowers with Versamark and randomly stamp the lower part of the card.  Emboss with clear embossing powder.

Leaving the masks in position, brayer card lightly with brown.  Wipe images with a kleenix to remove ink.

Remove masks.  Stamp phrase.  Set aside.

Gold emboss the flower twice on pumpkin and apple blossom and once on brown and green.  Cut them out.  Cut the green flower into five separate petals.  Curl the petals of the remaining flowers.  Add mounts to each flower.  Arrange and glue the flowers and leaves to hide the brayered edge.
